Box pic!

MyBookBox came with an information card describing the books from each of the 6 genres for November.  I chose young adult and mystery as my 2 genres.

City of Strangers by Louise Millar- paperback

The first book in the box was City of Strangers by Louise Millar.  This was the selected book from the Mystery genre.  This story definitely sounds interesting!

Retail Value:  $16

Goodreads Rating:  3.68 stars

Synopsis from Goodreads:
When Grace and her childhood sweetheart Mac come home from their honeymoon in Thailand, they’re shocked to find a dead body beside their pile of unopened wedding presents. The police are unable to ID the man, so it is assumed that he was a burglar who died from natural causes. Little do they know that evidence for a rather different story is hidden right beneath their apartment…Three months later, Grace finds a card that, in place of well wishes, bears the message: “That man was Lucian Grabole.” A newspaper reporter fearing for her job, Grace lands on an idea that could answer some questions, and save her career as well. She’ll pitch a story to her boss called “Who was the man in my kitchen?”
Soon Grace is trekking across Europe, talking to strangers and piecing together clues as she tries to unravel the mystery of who Lucian Grabole was, and why he met such a macabre end. Suddenly, with two more deaths linked to the case, it becomes clear that Grabole most certainly did not die a natural death. And the answer to the mystery of who the killer is, and why, lies back in Grace’s apartment...

This Is Our Story by Ashley Elston- hardcover

The second book in the box was This Is Our Story by Ashley Elston.  This was the selected book from the Young Adult genre.  I was happy to receive this book because it sounded like a book I'd love.

Retail Value:  $17.99

Goodreads Rating:  3.98 stars

Synopsis from Goodreads:

No one knows what happened that morning at River Point. Five boys went hunting. Four came back. The boys won’t say who fired the shot that killed their friend; the evidence shows it could have been any one of them.

Kate Marino’s senior year internship at the District Attorney’s Office isn’t exactly glamorous—more like an excuse to leave school early that looks good on college applications. Then the DA hands her boss, Mr. Stone, the biggest case her small town of Belle Terre has ever seen. The River Point Boys are all anyone can talk about. Despite their damning toxicology reports the morning of the accident, the DA wants the boys’ case swept under the rug. He owes his political office to their powerful families.
Kate won’t let that happen. Digging up secrets without revealing her own is a dangerous line to walk; Kate has her own reasons for seeking justice for Grant. As she and Stone investigate—the ageing prosecutor relying on Kate to see and hear what he cannot—she realizes that nothing about the case—or the boys—is what it seems. Grant wasn’t who she thought he was, and neither is Stone’s prime suspect. As Kate gets dangerously close to the truth, it becomes clear that the early morning accident might not have been an accident at all—and if Kate doesn’t uncover the true killer, more than one life could be on the line…including her own.

More cool extras!

There was a 'This Is Our Story' pouch, bookmark, and necklace included in the box.  Very cool.

The last item in the box was a bag of delicious caramels from Dallas Caramel Company.

These caramels are so yummy!  I've eaten most of them already.  They come in the flavors of pumpkin and apple pie.  Yum!

My Thoughts:  I wanted to try out MyBookBox because it seemed like a really cool subscription box.  I was so not disappointed with this box and I'm going to continue subscribing because I love this box so much.  I loved everything that was included and I think this is such a well curated box.  I love that I can choose the genres of the 2 books I receive and the extras included just make this box even more awesome.  I think this is a great book box for book lovers of all ages.
