Landfall Freight July 2016 Review

Landfall Freight is a monthly graphic novel/comic subscription box. Every box includes graphic novels, comics, and zines all featuring female driven stories.  The majority of the titles are female written and/or illustrated.  Now that is awesome!  I love graphic novels and comics so I had to subscribe and I wasn't disappointed.

**Update**  Unfortunately, the August 2016 Landfall Freight box was their last box.  They will no longer be sending out boxes.  I'm so sad.  This was a great subscription box.

Price:  $29.99 per month plus shipping.

Shipping:  $7.99 to the U.S., $10.99 to Canada, $35 for international shipping.

Every Landfall Freight comes with an information card describing the items inside.

The Red Virgin by Mary M Talbot and Bryan Talbot (hardcover)

The theme for July was 'Make Herstory' and this book is perfect for that theme.  I think this will be a very interesting book to read.

Retail Value:  $19.99

Goodreads Rating:  3.84

Goodreads Synopsis:

The creative partnership of acclaimed writer and academic Mary M. Talbot and graphic-novel pioneer Bryan Talbot has produced some of the most challenging and entertaining graphic novels in recent memory, including 2012's Costa Award medalist Dotter of Her Father's EyesThe Red Virgin and the Vision of Utopia explores the life of revolutionary French feminist Louise Michel, a visionary teacher, poet, and radical who took up arms against a reactionary regime that executed thousands. Even deportation to a distant penal colony could not stop Michel from taking up the cause of the indigenous population against French colonial oppression.

I love the black and white illustrations and how the color red is used throughout the book.  Very cool.

The Feminist Handbag

This is a pretty cool tote bag!  I have so many tote bags now but I will definitely be using this soon.

Red Virgin Bookmark and Bookplate

That is a pretty bookmark.

My Thoughts:  The Red Virgin sounds like an interesting read and the artwork is fantastic.  I love the look of the tote bag and art print and I love how every item in the box had the same black, white, and red color scheme.  I thought this was a great box and I'm sad that August was the last month for Landfall Freight.  I really loved the selections of comics and graphic novels that they chose each month and the extra items were always cool.  I'm going to miss receiving this subscription box.  The August 2016 review will be my last review for this awesome box.  :(
