Lit-Cube June 2016

Lit-Cube is a monthly book subscription box.  Each month subscribers will receive an awesome book and bookish goodies. Every box is sure to include a readable, a wearable (t-shirts, etc.), and a snackable.  This is not a young adult book box so some of the featured books will be adult novels and every box will center around a theme.

Price:  $34.95 per month.

Shipping:  Free to the U.S.,  $10 to Canada, and $14.99 to all other countries.

Every Lit-Cube comes with an information card describing the items inside.

The theme for June was Roaring 20's Mystery.

Evergreen Falls by Kimberley Freeman (paperback)

Evergreen Falls was the 'readable' for June.  I've never heard of this book but I'm guessing it goes along with the roaring 20's theme.  The retail value of this book is $16 but the book included this month was another book with a remainder mark on it and it is selling on Book Outlet for $3.99.

Goodreads Rating:  3.89 stars

Goodreads Synopsis:

1926: Violet Armstrong is one of the few remaining members of staff working at the grand Evergreen Spa Hotel as it closes down over winter. Only a handful of guests are left, including the heir to a rich grazing family, his sister and her suave suitor. When a snowstorm moves in, the hotel is cut off and they are all trapped. No one could have predicted what would unfold. When the storm clears they must all keep the devastating secrets hidden.
2014: After years of putting her sick brother's needs before her own, Lauren Beck leaves her home and takes a job at a Blue Mountains cafe, the first stage of the Evergreen Spa Hotel's renovations. There she meets Tomas, the Danish architect who is overseeing the project, and an attraction begins to grow. In a wing of the old hotel, Lauren finds a series of passionate love letters dated back to 1926, alluding to an affair - and a shocking secret.
If she can unravel this long-ago mystery, will it make Lauren brave enough to take a risk and change everything in her own life?

Great Gatsby Quote 18" x 18" Pillow Cover

I love this pillow cover!  I read The Great Gatsby many, many years ago.  I remember parts of it but I'll have to read it again soon.

Retail Value:  $19.95

20's Inspired Art Deco Headband

The 'wearable' for June was this pretty headband that is perfect for the roaring 20's theme.

Retail Value:  $12.95

Foaming Sugar Scrub (Champagne Bubbles) by
the Black Tie Market (2.5 oz.)

This sugar scrub smells lovely and I can't wait to use it.

Retail Value:  $8.75

Sugar Daddy & Great Gatsby Quote Magnet

The last items in June's Lit-Cube were the 'snackable', a delicious Sugar Daddy candy (caramel candy bar on a stick) and a Great Gatsby Quote Magnet that will be going on my fridge.

Sugar Daddy Retail Value:  $0.50
Magnet Value:  $2.95

My Thoughts:  I thought this was a good June box but I wish the book wasn't a remainder book that I could buy for cheap on Book Outlet.  That kind of brings the value of the box down for me.  The book does sound interesting though and I'll definitely read it eventually.  I love all the items included, especially the Great Gatsby pillow cover, the sugar scrub, and the art deco headband.  All the items fit the theme perfectly!  Unfortunately, the July Lit-Cube will be my last box since I had to cut back on my sub boxes.
