Lit-Cube April 2016

Lit-Cube is a monthly book subscription box.  Each month subscribers will receive an awesome book and bookish goodies. Every box is sure to include a readable, a wearable (t-shirts, etc.), and a snackable.  This is not a young adult book box so some of the featured books will be adult novels and every box will center around a theme.

Price:  $34.95 per month.

Shipping:  Free to the U.S.,  $10 to Canada, and $14.99 to all other countries.

Want to see what was inside the April 2016 Litcube?
Let's find out!

Lit-Cube

My cat wanted to jump inside the box!

I like the look of the new box.

Every box comes with an information card describing all the items inside.

There is a different theme every month and this month was the Anniversary of the Dragon because it was Lit-Cube's one year anniversary.

Exclusive Lit-Cube Plush

This is an exclusive plush of the Lit-Cube dragon mascot, Stacks.  So cute!

Retail Value:  $11.99

Look at that face!

Slayers by C.J. Hill (paperback)

This is the readable for this month.  This looks like an interesting book.

Retail Value:  $9.99

Goodreads Rating:  4.10

Goodreads Synopsis:

Dragons exist. They're ferocious. And they're smart: Before they were killed off by slayer-knights, they rendered a select group of eggs dormant, so their offspring would survive. Only a handful of people know about this, let alone believe it – these "Slayers" are descended from the original knights, and are now a diverse group of teens that includes Tori, a smart but spoiled senator's daughter who didn't sign up to save the world.

The dragon eggs have fallen into the wrong hands. The Slayers must work together to stop the eggs from hatching. They will fight; they will fall in love. But will they survive?

Here's something to keep in mind:  I noticed that this book had a remainder mark on the bottom.  I purchase many books with remainder marks from Book Outlet and this book is currently $1.69 on their site.  Lit-Cube also included a book last month that I could have purchased on Book Outlet at a discounted price.

Dragon Bracelet

The wearable for this month was this nice leather dragon bracelet.

Retail Value:  $8.95

Here's a closer look.

Fatman's Beef Jerky

This beef jerky was the snackable for this month.  I'm not much of a fan of beef jerky so this was my least favorite part of the box.

Retail Value:  $2.99

Color This Journal & Exclusive Colored Pencil Set

I love this journal and this set of colored pencils was made specially for Lit-Cube subscribers.

Retail Value of Journal:  $9.99
Retail Value of Pencil Set:  $6.99

The journal has some coloring pages.  Very nice!

My Thoughts:  I enjoyed this month's Lit-Cube.  My favorite items were the Slayers book, the Color This Journal, and the Lit-Cube Dragon Plush.  The bracelet was cute but I don't know if I'd wear it a lot and I wasn't a fan of the beef jerky.  I do wish that the featured book was not one I could just purchase at a discount on Book Outlet.  It kind of brings the value of the box down for me.  The book looks interesting but it is not a recent release (it was published in 2011) and I'm hoping they include more recent releases in upcoming boxes.  I'll have to see how I like the next couple of boxes to decide if I'm going to keep subscribing to this box.
